Short Program is a collection of short stories compiled 4 volumes. The stories are all unrelated and vary in length and genre, from Shonen, Shojo, Seinen, and Josei. Many of the stories were previously published as one-shots in various manga magazines, the earliest being from 1978. The story could basically be split into two halves. The main story is about Tamai Shiina, who is an energetic middle-school teenage girl. She visits her grandparent's over the summer where she runs into a very strange creature. Shiina has had lots of strange dreams as of late and also when she was younger, and this strange creature is somewhat related to her visions. She names the small cuddly star-shaped creature, Hoshimaru. Little did she know that this cuddly creature is really part of herself. After her vacation, Shiina goes back to her home, living with her father. She runs into other children with similar creatures the following days. However, these children have developed their creatures, and they have complete control over them. They mostly use these creatures for their own destructive pleasure and not for good. There is a group of teenagers that all have these strange creatures, and they plan to basically conquer the world, creating a utopia of whatever they desire. Will they succeed? Izaki was always confident in school who had to work at being the best. It's very much a you get what you put in scenario. He's more than capable of rising to the task whether it's club or tennis. He also enjoys being contrary to others and seeing through their bullshit and bluster which is so refreshing. He doesn't even do it to show off, just because people's shallowness annoy him. Hakamada is the quiet one. Still waters run deep asiding from the fact he always seems to look vapid. He's the prodigy insomuch as things just come easily to him. He doesn't have to work or study and just manages to come out on top which is frustrating for Izaki who realizes he'll never reach that level no matter how hard he tries. So there's a bit of a rivalry between them but not so much because Izaki knows he's got no chance of catching up. Although, he doesn't realize that Hakamada was never competing with him. And then there's Hakamada's attraction which Izaki can't understand at all. 8 years after that. After a school reunion Izaki finds himself in a relationship he never agreed to with Hakamada, the guy he hated so much in high school. Hakamada is stone faced and unresponsive like he was back in school and it's interesting to see his awkward and sincere attempts to get close to Izaki who thinks he's just being used for sex.

This comic comes from Mu Yu Nian Hua's online novel of the same name. The story begins during a late night discovery of a floating corpse in Dabazi Village, H County. After the villagers called the police, old Zhong and Zhang Kai drive there to handle the case. The body was discovered to be handcuffed and showing abominable methods of being killed.
