However, during a trying period for humanity, the witches were falsely accused of causing their hardships and subjected to execution by fire. To survive, the surviving witches aligned themselves with those eager to exploit their mystical abilities. Many centuries later, the general public had forgotten about the existence of witches until the establishment of Sternenlichtl, a school for budding witches. There, Alice Keating, a highly proficient witch who had a command of multiple magical disciplines, was given the responsibility of instructing a young novice by the name of Mari Muguruma.
