U.C. 0097, one year after the opening of "Laplace's Box." Despite the revelation of the Universal Century Charter that acknowledges the existence and rights of Newtypes, the framework of the world has not been greatly altered. The conflict later dubbed the "Laplace Incident" is thought to have ended with the downfall of the Neo Zeon remnants known as the Sleeves. In its final battle, two full psycho-frame mobile suits displayed power beyond human understanding. The white unicorn and the black lion were sealed away to remove this danger from people's consciousness, and they should now be completely forgotten. Yuu Kajima is a soldier with the Earth Federation Forces during the One Year War, testing new technology before it\'s mass-produced. During a routine battle, he and his teammates come under attack from a mysterious blue Mobile Suit that attacks like a monster, barely escaping with their lives. Returning to base, Yuu is assigned to pilot that same machine - Blue Destiny. As he uses his new machine and clashes with Zeon ace Nimbus Schterzen, Yuu learns that there may be more to the enigmatic Blue Destiny and its EXAM System than he previously thought.
The plot is centered on the crew of the Thoroughbred, a second Pegasus class vessel, and their mission to intercept a Zeon supply route beyond the Moon. Their ultimate goal is to prepare for "Operation Star One" by targeting Space Fortress Solomon.
