However, Clef reminded them that they could not leave until Cephiro was safe, and Princess Emeraude was rescued. To achieve this goal, they needed to revive mysterious beings called Mashin, and acquire special armor and magic to defeat Lord Zagato. With the assistance of Presea and Mokona, Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu will prove themselves as true Magic Knights and save Cephiro.

Reiner, Shan's mother, wanted a daughter and thus named him Shine, but his friends call him by the masculine name Shan. The English unofficial translation incorrectly listed the characters' names as Shine Alterion, Tis Iscar, Yulketh Lanskaine, Chrome Mirehart, among others.
